Under funding from the Polish Deal programme, the town of Sokółka received money to carry out the redevelopment of the Sokółka railway station. The Zdrowe Miasto Foundation prepared the development strategy for the Sokółka municipality. This is a huge financial and logistical challenge. It covers both the rebuilding of the station itself, together with its water and sewage network, and the construction of supporting infrastructure including a car park, a cycle path, pavements, bus bays and shelters for urban and intercity transport, a guarded taxi rank and a modern interchange. The Zdrowe Miasto Foundation carried out a survey to learn the opinions, ideas and comments of residents, reflecting their varied needs on this subject. The results showed that matters connected with the renovation and rebuilding of the station are an important issue for residents. Interest in taking part was enormous: within a week almost 600 people answered the questions. The survey showed that the community of Sokółka wants to be involved in what happens in their town. People appreciate all the changes being made in the region and are glad to say what still needs improving so that everyone can live better.
